About High Wire Activities at Victoria Falls

For years we have watched the Falcons soar above our rafts and the Kingfishers hover above our canoes and for years we have, along with millions of guests, looked up and wished the universal wish.......imagine being a bird! Now Wild Horizons brings this dream to life with a product that will simply blow you away!

Set overlooking a huge bend in the Zambezi's Batoka Gorge known as The Big Eddy, the Wild Horizons High Wire activities cater to all levels of adrenalin and all ages with several activities being suitable for all ages. The Lookout is a thatched viewing and preparation area that overlooks all the high wire activities, and it is from here that guests are briefed and prepared before their activities and also where the available jump DVD and photos are viewed.

Gorge Swing

The Gorge Swing100% adrenalin!

Imagine swinging in a child's swing in the playground...now imagine a giant swing 95m long and 120m high above water...now imagine a 70m free fall before you begin swinging. Stop imagining and come and try it out! Our highwire is suspended across the gorge at a point where the width is 316m and 120m deep. A harness is attached to the jumper and then the jumping ropes, the other end of which is pivoted to the middle of the cable. The jumper leaps off the edge of the gorge, free falling about 70m before going into a 95m long pendulum type swing.

Zip Line

The Zip LineUp to 106km per hour!

Imagine the adrenalin rush traveling a speed of 106 km's hurtling 425m across the gorge, while suspended 120m above the breath taking beauty of the Zambezi water below! As the river zigzags down the Batoka Gorges, our cable is suspended across from one side to the other. For this product you are harnessed and attached to a pulley, then launched over the edge picking up speed as you descend over the water and reaching a speed of 106 km an hour. This is the longest Zip Line (Foofie Slide) ride in the world.

This activity is totally safe for children of all ages. Smaller children are harnessed with their parent/guardian and can enjoy high wire.

Abseil & Rapp Jump

Abseil & Rapp Jump120 metres down!

Imagine abseiling 120m down a brilliant sheer cliff, doing 360-degree twists, descending backwards or rap jumping forwards and walking down the gorge as if to defy gravity itself! Suspended against the rock you can jump out and swing yourself from side to side or round in twists in as timid or confident a manner as you feel! With this product you can try both abseiling and rap jumping. Abseiling is descending backwards down the gorge and lowering yourself all the way to the bottom. Rapp Jumping, here the harness is connected backwards enabling you to run or walk down the cliff facing down into the gorge!

The Flying Fox

The Flying FoxFly over the gorge!

Imagine taking a running jump into thin air over the chasm, soaring horizontally through the air over the turmoil of the Zambezi below. The gorge at this point is 200 meters wide and 120 meters deep. This is a great appetizer before you try the Zip Line and Gorge Swing. Great for all ages and all levels of adrenalin.
